Fully Charged Live 2022 was a huge success!

Fully Charged Live is the world's largest and most popular clean energy and electric vehicle show which celebrated its inaugural event in 2018. Since then it's gained a massive following and proves to be bigger and better every time, bringing together the latest and greatest in renewable technology, electric transport, amateur projects and most importantly a surging community of optimistic enthusiasts!

2022 - Farnborough, United Kingdom

The event took place over 3 days at the last weekend of April at the Farnborough International exhibition & conference centre in the UK, where tens of thousands of guests showed up to visit the 200+ exhibits and attend over 50 informative talks hosted by the presenters of the Fully Charged Youtube channel (which if you're not familiar is a great place to keep up to date with related news and helpful reviews) joined by industry expert guests on a wide variety of topics including domestic economic efficiency, meatless diets, vertical farming and future technologies such as solid-state batteries and fusion generation.

Tesla Owners UK display car line up

Tesla Owners Club UK brought a usual collection of enthusiastic, friendly members to their stand, of which this year we were proud to be a part, to field questions and share first-hand experience of ownership with many volunteering their vehicle for display allowing any curious attendees to see and get a feel of every available model - the highlight this year of course being the recently launched Model Y which clearly drew a crowd. Visiting the official Tesla tent, I was glad to take a test drive myself to understand how they compare to a Model 3 and I certainly appreciated the spacious interior and comfortable ride, but the biggest appeal is the ample luggage capacity (perfect for camping in the back!) making it an incredibly versatile car.

Highlights

One of the best reasons to visit is to try before you buy and the range was impressive with plenty of E-scooters, E-bikes and One Wheels, electric motorcycles from Zero and Verge and of course the many BEVs from companies such as Tesla, Polestar, Nissan, Genesis, Fiat, Ford, VW and more. The commercial sector also had good representation showcased by the new delivery vehicles from Arrival and Volta, as well as a domestic rubbish collection vehicle from Nottingham City Council.

SR/S from Zero Motorcycles available for test rides

In terms of technology, there was innovation to be seen covering most of the spectrum including air and sea travel and this year featured a plethora of smart home charging solutions, with Tesla being one of the few manufacturers to offer a home fast-charging kit the demand for third-party suppliers to service the growing market is clear. Also not to be missed are the awe-inspiring efforts of amateurs converting classic ICE vehicles to electric, from a DeLorean to a VW Golf MKII and beyond!

Future events

There are plenty more opportunities to visit a Fully Charged Live event, possibly closer to home as they're branching out internationally with the next show coming up on May 20th, 21st and 22nd in Amsterdam, then September 10th & 11th in San Diego and March 11th & 12th for Sydney in 2023. It's a great place to meet like-minding individuals, learn about new advancements and products, tips to optimise our habits and a chance to test out the latest methods of electric transportation for fun, to satisfy curiosity or help you decide on your next purchase.

This year's show was the biggest to date and every year greater numbers of manufacturers join the lineup keen to showcase their new products, it's great to see the progress and the momentum pushing it forward gets stronger by the day. Looking forward to next year which I'm confident will not disappoint to be even better and hope that some of you may consider joining us there!
